1 NOTE Came to the US in Jan. of 1873 with wife and 4 children. 2 sons, a daughter (Fredericka), and a niece (Caroline Krowas said to be an orphan) Departed Germany 21 Nov 1872. Arrived in New York on the ship Prinz Albert on 28 Jan. 1873. The passenger list shows Carl 48, Christine 40, Caroline 22, Carl 17, Christoph 14, Friedrike 12, and Johann 9 months. They moved on to Lowden, IA. Burial in Van Horn cemetery, Cedar County, Iowa LOWDEN (city), SPRINGFIELD TWP., North West corner of SECTION 11. Carl’s name is listed in cemetery records as Carl Friedrich Eggert. Carl and Christine moved to Ida County where their oldest daughter, lived after being married to August Heinrich Horstman jr. Christina died in Battle Creek. Carl moved back to Lowden where he is buried. His wife and son, John, are also buried in Lowden. All are buried in the Van Horn cemetery north side up on the hill. The head stone is a tall spear with John, Mother and Father as side stones.

Take a look at the attached picture of 1901 Springfield Township, Scott County, Iowa. Look specifically at the upper left corner of section 13. This is the first thing I have found that actually has their name on it other that Carl and Ernestina Sophia Johana Eggert’s headstones (Son John Eggert also). Carl and Fredericka were the parents of Dads Grandmother on his father’s side. I have to do some more looking now. This could be their son, Carl Eggert b. 1855.

1880 Census for Liberty, Clinton, IA. says “Charles” Eggert
