Notes

The following taken from: Genealogical and Personal History of the Upper Monongahela Valley West Virginia by James Morton Callahan Professor of History, West Virginia University Copyright 1912 Lewis Historical Publishing Company

Abraham, son of William and Mary Marietta Barnes, was born in New Jersey, and accomanied his parents to what is now Marion county, West Virginia, where he henceforth resided, dying in 1876, aged eighty-nine years. He was a millwright and farmer, a Presbyterian and Whig, and enlisted in the war of 1812, going as far as Kingwood, West Virginia, when they received news of the termination of hostilities. He married ZMary Hall, and their children were: Nancy, Joseph, Malinda, William H., Silas, Thomas H., Isaac, Mary Ann, Peter T., Aseneth.

The following was taken from various internet sources:

Abraham was the eigth son William, bn 10-13,1784, md Mary Ann Hall daughter of Jordan Hall, who lived in Pleasant Valley. Abraham lived with his father at the old homestead on the Tygarts Valley River, where his family consisted of seven sons and four daughters. Abraham was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Fairmont and attended its regular services so long as he was able. He ws a man of unquestioned vercity.,sterling integrity, honest and conscientious, with strong convictions, and the courage to maintain them. He did not believe in having portraits made, and all of the arguments and persuasions of his children could not induce him to have one made which accounts for his picture not appearing in the book. If you think of a spare, straight man more than six feet tall, with flowing white beard and deep blue eyes with a kindly twinkle in in them yo have aent picture o him. The above is from Isaacs book and none of my actual research, just the kindness of others to share. I can give you an E-mail number to a direct descendent of Isaac but it would not be appropriate to put on this forum. I would be more than happy to mail to you what I have. Carol
