Notes

83 years, 11 Months, 30 days

1 NOTE Maried in St. James Catholic Church in Redondo Beach. Violet had a stroke Oct. 2003. She spent about 8 weeks in the hospital with rehabilitation and then moved to Golden Empire Convalesent Hospital in Grass Valley, Ca. She developed cancer that spread to her spine and passed 2.5 years later.

Violets mother was sent to the state mental hospital after Violet’s sister, Virgil, died. Violet and her siblings lived with their father on and off. William Paddison couldn’t take care of them on the hog ranch so would pay family and friends to look after them. At one point, Mary and Violet lived at the Catholic Sister School in Los Angeles. Tiny and Violet lived with Edward and Grace Paddison for a time also. A number of families wanted to adopt the girls, including cousin Margaret Van Matre née Jones) but William would not allow it.
