Robert (Bob) Lee Dimig Friday, July 25, 2003 DANBURY – Robert (Bob) Lee Dimig, 66, of Danbury, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. Bob Dimig was born Aug. 19, 1936, in Danbury, the son of Henry and Viola (Treiber) Dimig. He attended Danbury Catholic School and Auctioneering School. Bob was united in marriage to Jane M. Henrich on Feb. 20, 1960, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Odebolt. Bob and Jane were happily married for more than 43 years. He worked at the Sioux City Stockyards, farmed on the family farm at rural Mapleton, and sold feed for several years. Bob and Jane owned their own distributorship of the Sioux City Journal until 1998. Both Bob and Jane retired in their home in Danbury. Most recently, Bob became a Senior Companion member who visited the shut-ins in Danbury, which he enjoyed very much. Bob enjoyed his family and grandchildren – they were the pride of his life. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and playing cards. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was involved in the church auction for the past six years. He was also an honorary member of the 3rd Degree, past Grand Knight and held many offices in the Knights of Columbus Council 2839 of Danbury and the Garrigan 4th Degree Council. As a Grand Knight, he was instrumental in installing a ramp and chair lift for a stroke victim. He organized fishing trips for nursing homes, and made and planned trips for the handicapped. Bob’s life revolved around helping with Right to Life, 4-H and as a member of the Danbury Community Club. Survivors include his wife, Jane; seven children, John and his wife, Beth, and their children Sarah, Douglas and Jennifer of Storm Lake, Denise and her husband, Paul Ruden, and their children, Pat, Amy and Joseph of Oyens, Diane and her husband, Jake Ruden and their children Andy, Amanda and Aaron of Le Mars, Shirl and her husband, Wesley Hartson of Waterloo, Tony (Robert A.) and his sons, Tyler and Alec of Sioux City, Barbara and her husband, Chris Zaugg and their son, Blake, of Cedar Rapids, and Joyce Dimig of Salem, Mass.; twin brothers and their wives, Mark and Carolyn of Sacramento, Calif., and Mike and Shirley of Rocklin, Calif., as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danbury, with burial in the parish cemetery. Visitation was at the Barker Funeral Home in Danbury.
