Biography
Horstman Family
Horstman family group photo - Possibly taken at the passing of August Frederick Horstman in 1920? This photo seems to be taken circa 1928 based on the appearance of Carl Edgar Horstman (b 1915) in similar photos. I do not show any immediate family members passing in the 1928 time frame.

Notes

1 NOTE Charles H. was a banker in Casper, WY. He may have been involved in Church of the holy oil scandal due to his association with the bank in Casper. The teapot dome scandal. This involved the cathloic church in Los Angeles, CA. and and oil scandal in WY. and UT.? SS death index shows place of death as Kansas City, MO?

Lived in Burbank, CA. in 1942? See the obit for his father, August Heinrich Horstman.

From Judith (Horstman) Wells April 2000 - We are still missing Charles H. who I think also lived in Wyoming. I vaugely remember meeting him.

HORSTMAN-GAY CHAPEL,CASPER,WY as of 1951

Charles was in Denver, Colorado in 1966 (see obit for his brother, Alfred)

Hi Roger, Yes, my mother has that same 4 generation photo. I saw it this past year, as we laughed over the “ZZ Top” looking beard. The couple photo… I’ll have to send on to my mother for verification.

My mother told me yesterday that Charles changed his name, and that his birth name was Carl Johanne (sp?). And, when he married Ester, she saw this real name on their marriage certificate and said that their first boy would be named Carl as she liked his birth name. The H. in Charles H. didn’t stand for anything.

I didn’t know about the two “n’” in Horstman. Very interesting but not uncommon from what I’ve learned about genealogy…changing spellings, etc.

Thanks again! I can’t tell you how thrilling this is. My mom will be here with us in Custer for Easter, so we’ll have time to visit more about this.
