Simon Winters, Jr. The death of Simon Winters Jr., a well know resident of Jefferson Township for many years, occurred on Thursday lst, March 24, 1927, following a two-week illness. He was 78 years old. The deceased was born in Gerany in 1849, and came to this country with his parents when as a child. they first settled at Sheboygan, Wisc., later coming to Ludlow Township when he was a boy of 15 years. On September 12, 1884, he was united in marriage with Augusta Bruchan, who passed away January 21, 1920. Ten children were born to this union, two of whom preceded them in death. Those left to mourn are Lillian, Mrs. Alice Clark, Mrs. Minnie Gilson, Mrs. Myrtle Carter, John, Carl, Alfred and Marvin. He is also survived by a brother, Ernest Winters of Canby, MN, and a sister, Mrs. Louise Hagan of Reinbeck, IA. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Zion Reformed Church, conducted by Rev. Elliker, followed by burial in Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, IA.
