Mae graduated from St. Ursula’s Academy in York, NE in 1922 at age 20. She married John Dimig in about 1925 when she would have been 22 Y.O. They first farmed on the Dimig “home place” near Atlantic, IA. After she became ill with TB, she and John moved to Colorado in the hope that the altitude would be helpful in her recovery. She died in 1931 in Ft. Collins, CO. and was taken by train home to York, NE. The funeral was held at the home of her mother, (Catherine “Kate” Kaspari). Mae had three small children at the time, youngest was 2 y.o. Marguerite. The older two went with their father, and Marguerite stayed with grandma Kate until she was about 10 y.o. at which time she went too live with her father, stepmother & family near Wiota, IA. Mae and her brothers were exceptionally tall. She was 6’2”.

Obit: York Daily News Times Monday, October 19, 1931 MRS. JOHN DIMIG DIES AT HER HOME IN FORT COLLINS Mrs. Mae Dimig, 28, wife of John Dimig and a former York resident, died at the family home in Fort Collins, Colo., Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock, following a lingering illness of more than two years. Mr. and Mrs. Dimig, who for a time after leaving York, resided at Atlantic, Ia., moved to Ft. Collins about two years ago. Mrs. Dimig was born near York and spent the early years of her life in and near this city. She graduated from St. Ursula’s academy after completing the high school course. The deceased is survived by her husband and three children, John, 5; Darlene, 4; and Margueritte, 2; her mother, Mrs. Kate Kaspari of this city, and two brothers, Henry and Louis Kaspari, both of York. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic church in this city, Tuesday morning at ten o’clock. Rev. thomas Cullen will have charge of the service. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s cemetery, southeast of York.
