Mary G. Bivens, 99, of Taylor Ridge, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at Genesis Senior Living, Aledo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Andalusia. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 801 Edgington St., Reynolds, where a Christian wake service will be at 4 p.m. Burial will be at Edgington Cemetery, Edgington. Memorials may be made in care of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Mary was born on Sept. 8, 1913, in Drury Township in Rock Island County, a daughter of Henry P. and Dora C. Dimig Bopp. She married Richard M. Bivens on Feb. 9, 1937, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Milan. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1980.

Mary worked for the Rockridge School District for more than 20 years.She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, crocheting and watching people.She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church as well as the St. Patrick Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include her children (and spouses), Richard (Connie) Bivens, Moline, Sue (Laverne) Shellady, Taylor Ridge, Minerva (Donald) Guinn, Taylor Ridge, John P. (Linda) Bivens, Reynolds, Thomas (Mary Ann) Bivens, Taylor Ridge, and Randall (Cheryl) Bivens, Moline; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Helen Bopp. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Leo and Francis Bopp; and sisters, Martha Reed, Helen Hessman and Gertrude McNeal.
