Margaret immigrated on 2 APR 1869 to New York City, New York on the ship Saxonia with her parents Herman Broich and Gertrude Wentz. She married William Lordeman on October 31, 1879 in Roselle township, Carroll County, Iowa. They were the parents of 9 children: Mary, Clara, Wilhelmina, Joseph, Ann, and others. In 1900 she was the mother of 9 children, 5 living. Margaret married Bernard Schimmer on November 16, 1920 in Carroll, IA.
March 15, 1948 - Carroll Times - Funeral services will be at 8:15 Tuesday morning at SS. Peter and Paul’s church for Mrs. Margaret Schimmer, 87, formerly a long time resident of Carroll. She died Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clara Winfield, at Laramie, Wyo. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
The body arrived in Carroll this morning and was taken to the Huffman Funeral home, where the rosary will be prayed at 8 o’clock tonight. Mrs. Schimmer had lived in Carroll about 70 years. She went to Laramie 10 years ago to make her home with her daughter.
She leaves three children, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Her children are Joe Lordeman, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Ann Murphy, Denver, and Mrs. Winfield. Mrs. Murphy and Mrs. Winfield accompanied their mother’s body here. Also surviving are two sisters; Mrs. Belle Carr, Long Beach, Calif, and Mrs, Anna Evans, Alliance, Neb., and one brother, Will Broich, Spearfish, S.D.
