Memorial services were be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Odebolt, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend DeeAnn Klapp will officiate, with burial in the Odebolt Cemetery.
Born July 29, 1927, in Sac County, Iowa, Lois Irene Siebrecht was the daughter of Albert J. and Hazel (Birkley) Bentsen. She grew up in the Sac City and Nemaha areas, graduating from Sac City High School in 1946. Lois earned her teaching certification from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, then taught rural school west of Sac City for several years.
On January 21, 1951, she was united in marriage to Lloyd J. Siebrecht in Sac City, Iowa. The couple made their home north of Odebolt where they farmed for many years, retiring to Odebolt in 1980. They were blessed with five children, LaDon, Loren, Lester, Linda, and Lisa.
Lois was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She belonged to United Methodist Women and Ingleside Club as well as several card clubs through the years. Lois enjoyed tending her yard and flowers and played her home organ for her own entertainment. A talented cook, Lois delighted in cooking for her family, never using a recipe. Her greatest joy, however, was found in her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, LaDon (Linda) Siebrecht of Odebolt, Loren (Anita) Siebrecht of Carroll, Lester (Linda) Siebrecht of Odebolt, Linda Kemper of Nebraska City, NE; and Lisa (Leroy) Bartels of Tecumseh, NE; nine grandchildren, Jon Siebrecht of Odebolt, Vicki (Chad) Smith of Wayne, NE, Jeff Siebrecht of West Des Moines, Mike Siebrecht of Hamden, CT, Kyle Siebrecht of West Des Moines, Jenny (Josh) Burgett of Cedar Rapids, Jodi (Ross) DeVolder of St. Paul, MN, Lena Kemper of Omaha, NE, and Connor Bartels of Tecumseh, NE; four great-grandchildren, Allison Siebrecht, Blake and Colton Smith, and Tate Burgett; a brother, Ronald (Marlene) Bentsen of Sac City; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lloyd in 2005; and a brother and his wife, Lawrence and Elaine Bentsen.
