Helen Hessman
Helen T. Hessman, 77, Buffalo Prairie, Ill., died Thursday, Sept. 19, 1996, at home.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Edgington, Ill., where she was a member. Burial is in Buffalo Prairie Cemetery.
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Reiser-Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo, with a rosary to be recited at 7:30. Memorials may be made to the church or Quad City Candlelighters.
The former Helen Bopp was born Sept. 16, 1919, in Drury Township, Ill., the daughter of Henry and Dora Dimig Bopp. She married William Hessman Sr. Jan. 11, 1939, in Muscatine, Iowa.
She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of the church, served as a past director of the church council, member of Rock Island County Farm Bureau, American Quarter Horse Association and was a past director of the Illinois Quarter Horse Association.
She enjoyed reading, gardening and crocheting.
Survivors include the widower; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Bill Bell, Moline; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Marilyn Hessman Jr., Joy; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Bivens, Edgington, Martha Reed, Illinois City, and Gertrude McNeal, Andalusia; and a brother, Francis Bopp, Aledo.
