Edward Horstmann DURANT, Iowa - Edward O. Horstmann, 87, of Durant, died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at his home in Durant.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bentley Funeral Homes in Durant. Burial will be at the Walcott Cemetery in Walcott with military graveside services conducted by the Durant American Legion Post 430. Vocalist will be Henry Bentley.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Durant Ambulance Service.
Mr. Horstmann was born Feb. 14, 1913, in Big Rock, the son of Edward and Theresa Homrighausen Horstmann. He married Valeria Schumaker on June 10, 1948, in Davenport. She preceded him in death in 1999.
He served in the Army from 1942-1945 where he received a bronze star and was a member of the Durant American Legion Post 430.
He retired from Bendix in Davenport, as a technician, after 25 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, reading and birds.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Horstmann of Davenport; a sister, Ruth Horstmann of Davenport; a brother, Ruben Horstmann of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jerry Horstmann in 1986 and his sister, Viola Rahlfs.
