Funeral services for the late William Eggert were held at the Evangelical church Monday afternoon, the Reverends Theo. Thomas of Lowden and Karl Fauth of Clarence officiating. Interment was made in the Lowden cemetery.

William Eggert, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Eggert, was born August 26, 1890, on the Wm. Koch farm north of Lowden. After completing his religeous instruction under the Rev. F. Werning, in 1904, he became a confirmed member of Zion Evangelical church.

During the World War Mr. Eggert served one year in France. He was inducted into the army at Camp Dodge, Iowa, on June 28, 1918, and received his discharge at the same place on June 8, 1919.

On Mary 25, 1924, he was united in marriage with Miss Bertha Kintzel of Clarence, and they took up their residence on the Eggert home place south of Lowden, where the deceased had worked for his mother until his marriage. One son was born to them.

On Thursday, June 13, Mr. Eggert became ill, but he was not thought to be in any danger. However, he became more seriously ill as the week advanced and reached a critical condition Friday and that night at 10:40 o’clock, he passed away, the exact cause of his illness not fully determined.

Surviving are his sorrowing wife, one son, William Warren; his mother, Mrs. Anna Eggert, and one brother, Alfred, both of Lowden; four sisters, Mrs. Augusta Penningroth, Mrs. Freda Steffens and Mrs. Ida Ball, also all of Lowden, and Mrs. Lizzie Robinson of Welton, Iowa. Also four nephews and 5 nieces, besides a host of other relatives.
