CLEMENS, STELLA M. MRS. CLEMENS DIES

Resident of Topeka for More Than Thirty Years.

Mrs. Stella M. Clemens died Sunday morning at Christ’s hospital after an illness of several months. The family home was at Huntoon and Clay streets. Mrs. Clemens was the widow of the late G. C. Clemens who, a score of years ago, was known throughout Kansas as a lawyer, editor and political reformer.

Mrs. Clemens had been a resident of Topeka for more than thirty-five years and had a large circle of friends and acquaintances. She possessed an intelligence and keenness of wit which gave her an unusually interesting personality. During the life time of her husband she assisted him in his legal and literary work. Mr. Clemens died in the fall of 1906.

Mrs. Clemens is survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary O’Marra; a sister, Miss Anna G. O’Marra, and two brothers, John and Richard Carberry, all of Gardner, Kan. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock from the Holy Name church. Internment in Topeka Cemetery. (The Topeka Daily Capital, Monday, September 16, 1918, transcribed by Jim Laird)
