Ronald Lawrence Schimmer was born December 5, 1939, at Danbury, Iowa, the son of Lawrence F. and Gertrude (Collins) Schimmer. He grew up at Danbury where he graduated from Danbury Catholic High School with the class of 1958. He served his country in the Army Reserve and worked for Safeway.
In February 1966, Ron married Jackie Wise at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. They made their home in Denison where Ron owned and operated Schimmer Oil Company from 1969 to 2004.
He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Road Runner Motorcycle Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Schimmer and her husband, Steve Foos of Omaha, Nebraska; two sons, Mike Schimmer of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Shane Schimmer of Denison, Iowa; five grandchildren, Addam, Ericka, Tyler, Noah, and Hanna; his mother, Gertrude Schimmer of Danbury, Iowa and one brother, LeRoy Schimmer and his wife, Judy, of Ida Grove, Iowa. Ron was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2005 at the Armstrong Chapel in Mapleton, Iowa. Rev. Robert Schimmer officiated the service and interment at the Danbury Catholic Cemetery in Danbury, Iowa.
Julie Hamann served as organist and vocalist for hymns, The Lord Is My Shepherd, The Lords Prayer and On Eagles Wings.
Those serving as pallbearers were Dick Schimmer, Adam Gosch, Bill Miller, Gaylord Moeller, Charlie Thompson and Louie Duncan. The Armstrong Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
