Muriel M. Horstmann, 85, of Lost Nation, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport, Iowa, following a brief illness. A celebration of her life will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2006, at the Union Presbyterian Church in Lost Nation. Burial will be in the Lost Nation Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Lahey Funeral Home in Lost Nation. A memorial fund had been established. Muriel Horstmann was born January 21, 1921, at Toronto, Iowa, to Daniel Clapp Sr. and Magdalena (Kent) Clapp. She was educated in the Clinton County schools. She married Darrell Horstmann on December 29, 1948, in Wheatland, Iowa. He died in January 1971. They farmed all of their married life and she continued to live on the farm. She was a one-time member of the Toronto Community Church and was a devoted homemaker to her family. She is survived by three sons, Wayne Horstmann, of DeWitt, Harlan Horstmann, of Clinton and Dale Horstmann, of Toronto; and one sister, Geraldine Behrend, of Monmouth, Iowa.
