Kory James Uhl, age 11, died unexpectedly Friday, October 23. 1998. at his home near Battle Creek.

Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danbury, Iowa, with Father Raymond Wieling, Father David Hogan and Father Jim Tigges officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Danbury. Visitation was at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove on Monday from 9:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Kory was born April 28, 1987 in Ida Grove, Iowa, the son of Robert A. and Myrna M. (Horstman) Uhl. He was an active sixth grader at Battle Creek-Ida Grove Middle School, and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Kory had many Interests, including sports, especially basketball and football. He was a big fan of the Utah Jazz, the Cowboys, and the Gators. Cooking, baking, school, and helping his dad and brothers with farm work were among his favorite things.

Survivors include his parents, Robert and Myrna Uhl; his siblings Darron and his wife, Jeannia Uhl and their children, Tristen and Jaden of Battle Creek, Tracy Uhl and Brian Uhl, both of Kansas City, Missouri, Darci Heyer and her husband, Jeff of Mankato, Minnesota, and Rob Uhl, at home; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Uhl of Battle Creek; and maternal grandmother, Lorraine Horstman of Battle Creek.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, George Uhl; and his maternal grandfather, Fred Horstman.
