Notes

Katherine T. LaForgia, known as “Kaye” to family and friends, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 29th at her home in Thousand Oaks, California. A beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, she lived her life as a gracious woman, devoted to her family. Born on November 6th, 1927 in New York, New York, Kaye lived in Greenwich Village with her mother, Theresa Odorfer, brother, Charles Odorfer and sister, Lucille Michaels. Kaye graduated from high school at the top of her class, where she focused on English and Theater Arts. On September 11, 1948, Kaye married the love of her life, Gus LaForgia, and moved with him to Southern California. There they lived a true love story for 49 years, never spending a day apart until the day Gus died, January 1st, 1998. Kaye loved painting, gardening, writing and was a voracious reader. She enjoyed a long career leading the credit department at Builder’s Emporium, before moving to Prudential Insurance as a claims investigator. She also dedicated much of her time to philanthropy and worked extensively with the Arthritis Foundation. A quick smile and abundant kindness made a friend of everyone she met. She is survived by her son, Ron LaForgia, daughter-in-law, Christina LaForgia, and grand-daughter, Nicoletta LaForgia, of Westlake Village, California, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Kaye’s greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Services will be held on Saturday, September 8th, 2012 at 11:00am at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, 32032 West Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village, CA 91361 (818) 889-1279. Father Walt Housey will be conducting the ceremony.
