Mankato ? Joseph W. Kirchner, age 80, of Mankato, died Thursday, January 1, 2008, at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2008, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Al Girtz officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4th at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue 1 hour before services at the church. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
Joseph was born October 20, 1928, in Faribault, MN to Arthur and Eva (Dimig) Kirchner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1947 to 1948. Joseph married Arlene Quiram at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville, MN, September 17, 1950. He had been employed by the Milwaukee and Sioux Railroads. Mr. Kirchner was a 56 year member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, cards, gardening, puzzles and especially time spent with family and friends.
Joseph is survived by his wife Arlene; 3 sons, Michael (Ellen) of Farmington, Mark of Omaha, NE, and Timothy (Marlene) of Sarasota, FL; 1 daughter, Kathy (Dale) Jenson of Gaylord; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Richard (Donna) of Rochester, and Bernard (Ben) (Joanne) of Mankato; 1 sister, Jean McDowell of Mankato; 1 brother-in-law, Elmer (Marilyn) Quiram of New Richland and sister-in -law, Florence Taylor of Elysian. He was preceded in death by his parents.
