John was born at the home of his parents Northwest of Reinbeck, Iowa.
John Horstman died Tuesday morning,Oct 1,at the Mercy Hospital in Waverly of a heart ailment.
He was born Nov. 20,1901,in Grundy County near Reinbeck,the son of Sophia and August Horstman.
On August 1, 1928 he was married to Miss Ethel Syndergaard in Grundy Center. They have lived on farms in Grundy County during their married life and bought the farm on which they have been living, 4 1⁄2 miles north east of Dike. He was a member of the Fredsville Danish Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife,two sons,Dean and Marlyn,both at home and three sisters,Mrs. Henry Wieben and Mrs. George Rohweder,both of Reinbeck and Mrs. Ray Martin of Cedar Falls. His parents preceded him in death.
French Funeral Home handled the arrangements and services will be Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the house,2:00 pm at the Fredsville Church with the Rev. Marvin Nygaard officiating. Burial will be in the Fredsville Cemetery.
