DEATH OF MRS. BRINKMANN
This community was deeply grieved when the announcement was made that Mrs. Carl Brinkmann, Sr., was dead. A few weeks ago she went to is it relatives in Chicago and while there she was suddenly stricken with heart disease. After an illness of six days she quietly passed away.
Johanna Marie Dorathea Polkow was born February 17, 1833 at Rustow, Pommerania, Germany. In 1857 she was married to Carl Brinkmann. They immigrated to America in May 1866 and for nine years lived in Chicago. From there they moved to Sadonia, Champaign Co., where they resided four years, since then they have lived in Kankakee Co., their present homestead being located four miles north-east of Chebanse. The deceased leaves a stricken husband, two sons, William and Charles and a daughter who lives inMinnesota. Eleven children passed away before her in their early infancy. The funeral which took place in the afternoon was largely attended by family and friends. After services at the Lutheran church, the remains were laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery.
