Notes

Birth: Feb. 18, 1852 Blountsville Henry County Indiana, USA Death: Dec. 11, 1941 Odebolt Sac County Iowa, USA

Mrs. H. E. Sisk, Odebolt’s oldest woman, passed peacefully away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Otto Siebrecht, Thursday, Dec. 11, 1941, at the age of 89 years, nine months and 23 days. She has been a patient sufferer and bedfast for the last four months. She probably should have gone to bed a month or two sooner if she had been of the type to give up easily, but she always abhorred the thought of being waited upon and would rather be up and doing for oters instead-a cherished memory for her descendants. Buried at Correctionville Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 1:30 Monday afternoon, with the Rev. Wayne C. Stauffer officiating. Mrs. Marvin Friday and Mrs. John F. Buehler sang. Burial was made at Correctionville in the family lot. Those attending the funeral from a distance were Judge and Mrs. Berry J. Sisk, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Risner, a of Sioux City. Her brothers were unable to attend. Hulda E. Bechtelheimer was born Feb. 18, 1852, at Bluntsvile, Henry Co., Ind., the daughter of Jesse and Margaret Bechtelheimer. At the age of two years, she moved with the family to Fulton Co., Ind., and at the age of 16 years to Lee Co., IL. Was Married Twice When she was 18 years old, she was united in marriage with William Allen Seitz. No children came to this union. Mr. Seitz died four years and 10 months after their marriage. Two years later, she was married to Berry J. Sisk at Rochelle, Il. Four children wer born to this union, Walter, Earl, a daughter who died in infancy and Lorinda Levona, commonly known as “Dolly”. Mrs. Sisk died in 1891, and she is also preceded in death by her sons, Walter and Earl; also a stepson, Charles Sisk, of Sioux City to whom she served as a true mother. Mrs. Sisk has lived in Iowa over 60 years, residing at Correctionville until moving to Odebolt 41 years ago. She is the oldest member of the Woman’s Relief Corps, being a member since Nov. 30, 1891. She was an honored member of the Methodist church all of er adult life, and always took active part in this work as long as she was able. She was noted for her lovely handwork and had many pieces of such work. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Otto Siebrecht; two brothers, L. S. Bechtelheimer of Des Moines; W. M. Bechtelheimer of Blackwell, OK; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.
