Dorothy Elizabeth Chantrill was born November 10, 1911 at Williams, Iowa. She was the daughter of William J. Chantrill and Grace M. Smith Chantrill.
Dorothy graduated from Owasa High School in 1929. She attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and the Iowa School of Cosmetology in Des Moines, Iowa.
On July 3, 1935, Dorothy married Leo Edward Dimig in Atlantic, Iowa. To this union, five children were born.
Dorothy was a homemaker. She loved to cook and bake. She made the best pies and cinnamon rolls (everyone’s favorite). Dorothy’s hobbies were reading, gardening and her flower boxes. She especially enjoyed reading her Bible and watching the birds in her birdbath and bird feeder. Through the years Dorothy worked part time at the Jefferson Telephone Company, the American Trampoline Company, a canning factory, and Baller Appliance. She also did babysitting.
Dorothy Dimig passed away July 1, 2011 at the Greene County Medical Center. She was 99 years of age.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, three brothers, grandsons Scott Dimig and Rod Dimig, and a grandson in infancy.
Surviving are two sons: William (Patricia) Dimig of Jefferson, IA; Robert Dimig of Denver, CO; three daughters: Pat (Richard) Johnson, Karen (Richard) Clark and Peggy (Johnny) Johnson, all of Storm Lake, IA; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A private family funeral service was arranged at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, with burial taking place in the Jefferson Cemetery.
Memorials in Mrs. Dimig’s name were left at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson.
