Shortly after his return from the war, William m arried Lucy Kirkpatrick, the daughter of Caterine’s cousin, Thomas Lane K irkpatrick. Shortly after their son Frederick Lane White was born, Luc y died of Tuberculosis. When she was near death she expressed to Cathe rine her hope that she would marry Willaim, as she was concerned for th e future of her baby. In due course, Catherine and William were marrie d. Cahterine was a schoolteacher.
